Book Review
Writing: The Pioneer Woman. By Janet Floyd. (Columbia: University
of Missouri Press, 2002. ix + 228 pp. Illustrations, notes, bibliography,
index. $32.50.)

In many ways, Janet Floyd's
Writing: The Pioneer Woman would more aptly be titled Discussing
the Pioneer Woman. As the book jacket promises, Floyd does touch
on "autobiographical texts, published and private, known and
obscure," but usually as a springboard to scholarly discussions
already in play. She does not analyze or summarize the various arguments
so much as place them against or alongside each other. |
